Throughout our 150-year history, Guardian has been committed to pursuing a strong tradition of public involvement, giving back to the communities in which we operate through employee volunteerism and a well-established philanthropic program. As part of our commitment, our company has historically supported a wide variety of not-for-profit organizations in the areas of community services, health and human services, education, and the arts and cultural institutions.
Since 2003, the principal focus of our charitable grants has been on affordable housing in each of the communities in which we operate, including New York City; Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Spokane, Washington; and Appleton, Wisconsin. Our mission is to support initiatives that make our communities better places to live and increase opportunities for people to build better tomorrows. We primarily support non-profit organizations that address a wide array of affordable housing needs encompassing the renovation of existing housing, building new housing, counseling people in need of housing, and forming community development strategies. These needs are universal across all of the areas where our employees live and work.
